What each seat is

  • NagapattinamNagapattinam is the old Coromandel port that Naval Tamil and Dutch records both describe, and the constituency wraps the port, the fishing harbour and the cluster of urban wards behind them.
  • KilvelurKilvelur is a reserved (SC) seat in Nagapattinam district, sitting deep in the Cauvery delta where two crops of paddy a year are still possible on the alluvial plain.
  • VedaranyamVedaranyam runs along the southern tip of the Cauvery delta, where the river finally meets the Bay of Bengal as a maze of mangroves and salt flats.
