Yercaud has been AIADMK territory through three cycles — Perumal in 2011, G. Chitra in 2016 and 2021 — with C. Tamilselvan (DMK) the runner-up each time. P. Usharani (AIADMK) extends the streak to four, defeating TVK's J. Lakshmi Janarthanan by 2,189 votes; DMK's Tamilselvan had taken the pre-delimitation 2006 seat by 4,107.

About Yercaud
Yercaud — AC 83 — is a Scheduled-Caste-reserved hill seat in Salem district, sitting on the Shevaroy range at 1,515 m. The constituency takes in the entire 20-hairpin ghat road and the planters' belt above — coffee, orange, jackfruit, pepper and cardamom estates first developed in the 1820s after David Cockburn introduced coffee to these slopes. The 1,628-m Servarayan peak crowns it, with its 1,000-year-old cave temple to Lord Servarayan and Goddess Kaveri. Below sit the Killiyur Falls gorge, the Anna Park gardens and the small lake the British turned into a summer retreat.
Yercaud & the Shevaroys
Yercaud is the Shevaroys in miniature — drive the loop past Anna Park, Lady's Seat and the small boating lake, then climb to Servarayan temple at 1,628 m, the highest point in the range. Walk down to Killiyur Falls through coffee and pepper estates, or push north to Karadiyur viewpoint over the Cauvery plains. Roadside oranges in season are the souvenir.
