Sankari, also known as Sangagiri, sits on NH-44 between Salem and Erode and is famed for its hilltop fort built in the Tipu Sultan era and its truck-tyre retreading industry on the highway. The seat includes Sankari taluk and parts of Omalur taluk, and falls within the Namakkal Lok Sabha constituency.
Around 2.44 lakh voters polled in 2026. AIADMK has won here through 2011, 2016, 2021 and 2026. Local issues centre on the Cauvery drinking water pipeline, NH-44 expansion takings and the rice-milling cluster's power costs.
