Salem (North) was created in the 2008 delimitation; pre-2011 results are not on this seat boundary.

About Salem (North)

Salem (North) is the city seat carved out of Salem Corporation's northern wards, created in the 2008 delimitation. It runs from Hasthampatti and Five Roads through the Junction-side wards out to Kannankurichi, mixing trader belts, government quarters and the medical college zone. Around 2.09 lakh voters polled in 2026. The seat began as DMDK ground in 2011, swung to DMK for two cycles under R. Rajendran, and TVK's flip in 2026 marks its first non-Dravidian win since 2011. Local issues here include corporation drainage, fly-over completions and Salem steel township road links.
