About Singanallur
Singanallur is constituency No. 121, covering Coimbatore city's eastern flank along the Noyyal river. The seat takes in Singanallur Lake, Peelamedu, Uppilipalayam, SIHS Colony, Ondipudur, the Coimbatore International Airport, the Singanallur bus terminus, ESI Medical College and TIDEL Park. Pump-set workshops, engineering units and small fabrication shops give the area its working character. The constituency saw one of the state's tightest contests in 2006, when AIADMK's R. Chinnaswamy beat the CPI(M)'s Soundararajan by 14 votes. Around 2.19 lakh votes were polled in 2026 across 29 candidates.
Singanallur — lake, airport and Coimbatore's eastern edge
Singanallur Lake on the Noyyal pulls migratory birds in winter and is one of the largest waterbodies inside Coimbatore. Around it sit Peelamedu's textile college campuses, the airport approach road, and TIDEL Park. The Sungam boat house and Ondipudur market round out a half-day in the eastern half of the city.
