About Coimbatore (North)

Coimbatore North is constituency No. 118, drawn in 2008 to cover the city's north-western neighbourhoods between Mettupalayam Road and Thadagam Road. The seat takes in Saibaba Colony, R.S. Puram fringes, Goundampalayam, the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University campus and Coimbatore North Junction railway station. AK Tech Park sits within the limits and pulls a sizeable salaried-class vote alongside the city's older trading families. AIADMK won it in 2011, 2016 and 2021; the 2021 fight ended in a margin of just 4,001 votes. Around 2.24 lakh votes were polled in 2026 across 29 candidates.
