About Palladam
Palladam is constituency No. 115 in Tiruppur district, sitting in the Kongu textile belt between Coimbatore and Tiruppur city. Around 4.5 lakh power looms operate in and around the town, and the Palladam Hi-Tech Weaving Park, commissioned in 2007, was India's first integrated weaving park of its scale. SIPCOT and the Tiruppur Export Knitwear Industrial Complex anchor the local economy alongside windmill clusters on the plains. The seat has leaned AIADMK for two and a half decades, with DMK's S.S. Ponmudi the last non-AIADMK MLA in 1996. Around 2.99 lakh votes were polled in 2026 across 16 candidates.
Palladam — looms, windmills and the Kongu plains
Drive the Palladam–Pollachi road and the landscape alternates between weaving sheds, dyeing units and rows of wind turbines. The Hi-Tech Weaving Park is worth a stop for industrial-scale yarn and fabric work; the surrounding villages still keep coconut groves and tank-irrigated paddy. Sulur airbase and Tiruppur city are both within an hour's drive.
