Egmore — TVK's Rajmohan flips Chennai SC seat by 10,804
Rajmohan took Egmore for the TVK with 53,901 votes, beating DMK's Tamilan Prasanna by 10,804 votes in this reserved central-Chennai seat. The DMK had carried it through three straight cycles — I. Paranthamen in 2021, K. S. Ravichandran in 2016, and Parithi Ilamvazhuthi in 2006. The 2011 DMDK wave was the last time a non-DMK candidate held the seat.

About Egmore
Egmore is a reserved (SC) seat in the heart of Chennai, anchored by the Egmore railway terminus that funnels southern Tamil Nadu into the city. The constituency takes in Pudupet, Chetpet, Kilpauk and parts of Periamet — a dense mix of working-class housing, leather and auto-parts trades, and the Government Egmore Maternity Hospital. The Government Museum complex with its bronze gallery, the Egmore Museum theatre, and the Periyar Thidal lie within its limits. It is a bellwether seat for central-Chennai sentiment.
Bronzes and biryani in old Chennai
Walk the Government Museum's bronze gallery for the Nataraja and Ardhanari castings, then cross to the red-brick Egmore station for a platform chai. End at Periamet for biryani and beef chukka, or detour to Pantheon Road for the Connemara library and the Tamil Nadu archives.
