About Harbour
Harbour stretches along Chennai's working waterfront — Royapuram, Tondiarpet edge, Mannady, Old Washermenpet and the dock approaches. The Chennai Port and adjoining warehousing belt drive the local economy, alongside fishing harbours, the wholesale grain markets at Kothawal Chavadi, and the historic Armenian and St. Mary's churches. The seat carries a mixed Muslim, Telugu-Christian and fishing-community vote, and has stayed close to DMK for most of the post-2008 era.
Chennai's working dockfront
Start at the Royapuram fishing jetty for the morning catch, then walk Mannady to George Town for the Armenian Church and the Madras High Court precinct. End the loop at the Royapuram beach for a plate of fried sura and meen kulambu by the lighthouse.
