About Rasipuram
Rasipuram sits on the dry plateau between the Kollimalai foothills and the Cauvery delta, anchoring the western half of Namakkal district. The town has built itself on handloom silk, beedi rolling and a noisy weekly cattle shandy that draws traders from Salem and Erode.
The constituency takes in Mallasamudram, Namagiripettai and a string of weaving villages along the Cauvery bank, with poultry farms and small textile units providing most of the wage work. The DMK won it in 2006, AIADMK in 2011 and 2016, the DMK again in 2021 and TVK in 2026.
