About Paramathi-Velur
Paramathi-Velur — AC 95 — is a Namakkal-district seat strung along the north bank of the Cauvery, where the Velur bridge crosses into Karur district. The constituency takes in Mohanur, Paramathi town and a stretch of the river that has supported the Bhimeshwarar and Kalyana Venkatramanar temples for centuries. This is the dense core of Namakkal's poultry country — India's second-largest egg-producing belt at roughly 3 crore eggs a day, with 29 million birds in the district. Above it all, the Anjaneyar monolith and old fort rock at Namakkal frame the skyline.
Paramathi-Velur & the Cauvery bend
Drive the Velur bridge across the Cauvery for one of the river's quieter bends, then stop at Mohanur's Achaladeepeswarar and Kalyana Venkatramanar temples on the north bank. Push on to Paramathi's Bhimeshwarar shrine, and end at Namakkal's Anjaneyar monolith below the old hill fort. Poultry farms line the road in between — the smell tells you where you are.
