Peravurani — DMK's N. Ashokkumar holds the Pattukottai coast
DMK's N. Ashokkumar, elected here in 2021, held Peravurani in 2026 with 60,919 votes, ahead of AIADMK's Govi Elango (57,757); TVK's D. Chandrakandeeban came third with 45,576. His 2021 margin was 23,503, so the seat was much closer this time.
Before that it changed hands: DMDK's Arun Pandian won it in 2011 by 7,194 votes (in the AIADMK alliance) and AIADMK's M. Govindarasu in 2016 by 995. Peravurani sits on the Pattukottai-Coromandel cyclone belt, the same coastal paddy stretch that bore the brunt of Cyclone Gaja in 2018.

Peravurani (AC 177) covers the south-eastern coastal belt of Thanjavur district, a Pattukottai-region paddy and coconut country fronting the Bay of Bengal. The constituency sits on the Coromandel cyclone belt — Cyclone Gaja in November 2018 caused widespread devastation here, flattening coconut groves and paddy fields.
The seat changed hands at each election from 2011 to 2021 — DMDK in 2011 (the actor Arun Pandian's debut), AIADMK in 2016 (by 995 votes), and DMK in 2021. In 2026 the DMK's N. Ashokkumar held it.
