About Musiri
Musiri is an old taluk town on the south bank of the Cauvery in north-western Tiruchirappalli district, roughly 40 km upriver from Trichy city. The constituency covers Musiri, Thottiyam and parts of Thuraiyur taluks and is dominated by paddy, banana and sugarcane along the river belt. Around 185,800 voters cast ballots this cycle. The seat has changed hands at every cycle since 2006: DMK's Selvaraj in 2006, AIADMK's Sivapathi in 2011, AIADMK's Selvarasu in 2016, DMK's Thiyagarajan in 2021, and now TVK's Vignesh in 2026.
Cauvery riverside and Kallanai upstream
Musiri's riverbank ghats are quietly popular with weekend Trichy crowds. Combine the visit with the rock-cut Vekkali Amman temple at Woraiyur, the Chola-era Kadambar Koil at Lalgudi downriver, and the Pachamalai hill drive that begins from Thuraiyur, the next constituency to the north.
