About Musiri
Musiri is an old taluk town on the south bank of the Cauvery in north-western Tiruchirappalli district, roughly 40 km upriver from Trichy city. The constituency covers Musiri, Thottiyam and parts of Thuraiyur taluks and is dominated by paddy, banana and sugarcane along the river belt. 1,89,141 votes were polled in 2026.
Its MLA has changed at every election since 2006, though not always its party: the DMK's N. Selvaraj in 2006, AIADMK's N. R. Sivapathi in 2011 and M. Selvarasu in 2016, the DMK's N. Thiyagarajan in 2021 and TVK's M. Vignesh in 2026.
