About Anthiyur

Anthiyur — AC 105 — is a Scheduled-Caste-reserved Erode-district seat that climbs from the Bhavani Sagar reservoir up into the Bargur hills, the eastern boundary of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve. The constituency holds one of the country's most important tiger landscapes — 1,408 sq km notified in 2013, with a tiger count that has grown from 25 in 2011 to 80 by 2018, contiguous with Mudumalai across the Moyar. Bargur cattle, mango orchards and small coffee patches define the hill economy. The Bannari Amman temple and the Bhavani Sagar dam, completed in 1955, anchor the lower edge.
