Poonamallee — TVK's Prakasam.R unseats DMK's Krishnaswamy by 72,740
TVK's Prakasam.R took Poonamallee (SC) by 72,740 votes over sitting DMK MLA A. Krishnaswamy, who had himself swept the seat in 2021 with a 94,110-vote margin. Once an AIADMK pocket through 2011 and 2016, Poonamallee swung hard to the DMK in 2021 and now flips again to TVK.

About Poonamallee
Poonamallee (AC 5, SC reserved) is one of Chennai's oldest western suburbs, the historic toll-gate town on the Madras–Bangalore road. The Varadaraja Perumal temple here, built in the 10th century during Parantaka Chola's reign, is venerated as the birthplace of Thirukachi Nambi — Ramanuja's guru — making the town a quiet but important stop on the Sri Vaishnava map. Poonamallee High Road remains one of Chennai's defining arterials, and the constituency now serves as the gateway to the Sriperumbudur–Oragadam industrial corridor and the Chennai Outer Ring Road's western leg.
Poonamallee & the Old Bangalore Road
Poonamallee is where the old Madras–Bangalore road begins to climb out of the city. Stop at the 10th-century Varadaraja Perumal temple linked to Ramanuja's guru, then push west along the Sriperumbudur corridor to the Hyundai-Foxconn-Nokia industrial belt. The Outer Ring Road and PH Road junctions are the spine of Chennai's western expansion.
