DMK candidate Advocate K.K. Kathiravan won Paramakudi with 59,161 votes, holding off TVK's G. Gopirajan narrowly. About Paramakudi
Paramakudi is a municipal town and the second-largest urban centre in Ramanathapuram district, set on the Vaigai's lower reach where the river meets the dry coastal plain. The constituency takes in the town plus surrounding villages of Paramakudi and Kamuthi blocks.
The local economy runs on cotton handloom, paddy, palmyra products, and a sizeable trading bazaar that links Madurai with Ramanathapuram and the coast. Paramakudi has historically swung between Congress, AIADMK and DMK; the 2011 AIADMK wave handed it to S. Sundararaj, but DMK has held it in 2021 and again in 2026.
