About Oddanchatram
Oddanchatram is constituency No. 128 in Dindigul district, set on the foothills below the Palani range. The town is best known for its wholesale vegetable market — among the largest in southern India and reported to handle close to 5,000 tonnes of produce on peak days, with consignments moving to Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and the Gulf. R. Sakkarapani has held the seat for the DMK in every election from 1996 onwards, including narrow 1,369-vote and 14,933-vote escapes in 2001 and 2011. Around 1.99 lakh votes were polled in 2026 across 15 candidates.
