Killiyoor
Killiyoor — Congress's S. Rajeshkumar wins his third term, but 55,400-vote margin collapses to 1,311
Killiyoor has been a Congress fortress — S. John Jacob took it in 2006 (margin 26,605) and 2011 (24,486), then S. Rajeshkumar won landslides in 2016 (46,295) and 2021 (55,400). The seat had not been competitive in two decades. In 2026 Rajeshkumar held on for a third term, but TVK's S. Sabin slashed the margin to just 1,311 votes — turning one of TN's safest INC seats into a near-flip. Killiyoor is one of only five seats Congress won in TN 2026.

About Killiyoor
Killiyoor is the south-westernmost stretch of Tamil Nadu, a Kanniyakumari constituency where the Western Ghats fall straight into rubber, banana and clove plantations and where Nadar Christian belts give the villages a skyline of crosses and bell towers alongside Hindu shrines. The Mathur aqueduct — a kilometre long and 35 metres high on 28 piers, built in 1966 to carry the Pattanamkal canal across a valley — is one of the longest and tallest trough bridges in Asia. Thiruvattar's Adikesava Perumal temple, a rare Vaishnavite shrine in old Travancore territory, anchors the other side of the constituency.
Killiyoor & the Travancore fringe
Killiyoor is Tamil Nadu's south-western corner — rubber and banana on the Ghats' last slopes, Nadar Christian belts beside Hindu shrines. Walk the Mathur aqueduct, a kilometre long and 35 metres high on 28 piers, then drive to Thiruvattar's Adikesava Perumal temple, a rare Vaishnovite shrine in old Travancore country.
