Vaniyambadi
Vaniyambadi — IUML's Syed Farooq Basha takes leather town by 2,982 votes, after losing 2016 by 14,526
IUML's Syed Farooq Basha SSB won Vaniyambadi by just 2,982 votes over TVK's Syed Bhurhanudeen — a long-deferred win for the same Syed Farooq who lost the 2016 contest from this seat to AIADMK's Nilofer by 14,526 votes. Vaniyambadi has produced a Muslim-community contender in every cycle in the post-2008 era: DMK's H. Abdul Basith won in 2006 (24,184 margin) and was runner-up in 2011 to AIADMK's Govi. Sampath Kumar (18,225). AIADMK held the seat through Nilofer in 2016 and G. Sendhil Kumar in 2021 (4,904 over IUML's N. Mohammed Nayeem). The 2026 IUML breakthrough is the seat's first non-AIADMK/DMK win this delimitation cycle.

About Vaniyambadi
Vaniyambadi — AC 47 — is one of TN's defining leather-tannery towns, set on the Palar river in Tirupathur district. The town has produced finished leather and shoe-uppers for the European export market for over a century, and the Vaniyambadi-Ambur-Ranipet stretch is India's leather-export capital. Vaniyambadi has a strong Tamil Muslim community and was the home of Islamiah College (founded 1919, one of South India's oldest Muslim educational institutions) and the Madeenathul Uloom Arabic College. The seat sends a Muslim-community contender in every cycle.
Vaniyambadi & the Palar Leather Belt
Vaniyambadi is leather country — the tanneries along the Palar have stitched shoe-uppers for European brands for a century, and the Saturday wholesale market on Periya Palli Street still trades raw and finished leather by the bale. The 1919-founded Islamiah College anchors the town's intellectual life; a 25 km drive west takes you up to Yelagiri's quieter coffee slopes (the 14 hairpin bends, Punganur Lake, the Swamimalai trekking trail), and 60 km east opens up the Vellore Vijayanagara fort.
