About Jolarpet
Jolarpet in Tirupathur district is best known for its railway junction, the meeting point of the Chennai-Bengaluru and Chennai-Salem-Kerala lines. The town's economy is tied to the railways, the goods sheds, and the hill station of Yelagiri that draws weekend traffic from Chennai and Bengaluru. The constituency includes Jolarpet, Tirupathur taluk villages, and the foothills leading into Yelagiri. Local politics often runs on railway-linked employment, water access in the rain-shadow belt, and tourism infrastructure for Yelagiri. AIADMK's K. C. Veeramani has been the dominant figure in the seat across three of four cycles.
Around Jolarpet
Yelagiri's 14 villages, Punganur lake and Jalagamparai falls sit a half-hour climb from Jolarpet station. The Tirupathur town belt below has the Vaniyambadi leather corridor on one side and the Salem-bound rail track on the other.
