About Bodinayakanur
Bodinayakanur (AC 200) is the cardamom capital of the south, the auction town for spice, tea and coffee from the Western Ghats hill estates that climb into Munnar. The constituency takes in Bodi town, Uthamapalayam fringe, the Bodi-Munnar road and the cardamom plantation belt around Periyakulam ghat. O. Panneerselvam first won here in 2011 and held the seat in 2016 and 2021 as AIADMK's candidate, switching to DMK in 2026 after the AIADMK split.
When you are in Bodinayakanur
Catch the morning cardamom auction at the Bodi mandi for the smell alone, then begin the climb up the Bodi-Munnar road — the hairpins past Kurangani and Top Station are some of the most underrated drives in the south. Stop at Suruli Falls before heading back into town for hot Bodi-style mutton sukka.
