Tiruppattur 1-vote margin — TVK wins by a single vote, ending 4-term DMK run
TVK's R. Seenivasa Sethupathy edged DMK's K. R. Periyakaruppan — a four-term sitting MLA who had won Tiruppattur in 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2021 — by just one vote: 83,375 to 83,374. Of 1,66,749 ballots cast for the top two candidates, the difference came down to a single voter. It is the narrowest assembly result anywhere in Tamil Nadu in 2026, and the end of two decades of DMK control of this Chettinad constituency.

Pre-2008 delimitation; the seat was AC 194 in 2006 and was renumbered to AC 185 post-delimitation. Periyakaruppan held this seat for four consecutive terms (2006–2021) before losing by 1 vote in 2026. The 2011 DMK alliance (DPA) won this seat but lost the state to the AIADMK-led front.

Tiruppattur is an assembly constituency in Sivaganga district, in the heart of the Chettinad region of southern Tamil Nadu. The town sits on the historic Karaikudi–Sivaganga road, with its temples, Chettinad-era mansions, and limestone-rich architecture. The constituency's electorate is largely agrarian, with a strong Chettinad merchant-financier diaspora that votes back home.
