Thalli 2026: CPI's T. Ramachandran wins by 5,240 votes in close BJP fight
CPI's T. Ramachandran retained Thalli by 5,240 votes over BJP's Dr. C. Nageshkumar, in a much tighter rematch than 2021, when Ramachandran had won by a sweeping 56,226 votes. Ramachandran has now won Thalli four times - he had also taken the seat as a CPI candidate in 2011 by 6,435 votes and as an Independent in 2006. About Thalli
Thalli sits in the Denkanikottai taluk of Krishnagiri district, on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border just south of Hosur. The constituency takes in Thalli, Anchetty and Denkanikottai panchayats, with the Hosur SIPCOT industrial belt and Bengaluru's spillover IT and auto units shaping the local economy. Many residents work in Hosur factories or commute across the state border for trade. The seat is known for a deep Left base, with CPI's T. Ramachandran winning here multiple times, and the BJP emerging as the main challenger in recent cycles. Politics here turns on water from the Cauvery basin, border-village land rights, and Hosur's industrial expansion.
Around Thalli
Thalli and Anchetty open into Karnataka's Cauvery wildlife range, with viewpoints over the river gorge and hill drives toward Mekedatu. Denkanikottai's old fort and Hosur's SIPCOT belt are within an hour, and Bengaluru is a short run up the highway.
