About Bargur
Bargur sits in northern Krishnagiri district at the foot of the Bargur hills, a tract known for the Bargur cattle breed and a forested landscape of dry deciduous slopes. The constituency covers parts of Krishnagiri and Pochampalli taluks with mango orchards, ragi fields, and quarrying units making up the rural economy. The hills themselves are home to the Lambadi and Sholaga communities and a wildlife belt that spills into the Anchetty range. Politics here has stayed competitive between AIADMK and DMK, with margins often under five percent. AIADMK has been the dominant party historically, though DMK took the seat in 2021.
Around Bargur
The Bargur hills and Anchetty forest stretch into Karnataka's Cauvery sanctuary, with tribal hamlets and viewpoints along the Anchetty road. Krishnagiri Fort and the reservoir lie a short drive south, and Hosur is an hour up the Bengaluru highway.
