Sirkazhi 2026: DMK's Senthilselvan holds SC seat by 11,417
DMK's R. Senthilselvan won the reserved Sirkazhi seat with 71,449 votes, ahead of AIADMK's M. Sakthi on 60,032. The 11,417-vote margin is close to the 12,148-vote DMK win posted by M. Panneerselvam in 2021.

About Sirkazhi
Sirkazhi is a scheduled-caste reserved seat in the new Mayiladuthurai district, carved from Nagapattinam in 2020. The AC covers the temple town of Sirkazhi, Sembanarkoil and parts of Kollidam, sitting on the Cauvery's lower delta where paddy and groundnut dominate. Around 198,900 voters polled this cycle. The seat has alternated cleanly: DMK's M. Panneerselvam took it in 2006, AIADMK's M. Sakthi in 2011, AIADMK's P. V. Bharathi in 2016, Panneerselvam back in 2021, and the DMK has now retained it under a new face.
Sirkazhi Sattainathar and Vaitheeswaran Koil
Sirkazhi's Sattainathar temple is a three-tier shrine to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and is the birthplace of the saint Tirugnana Sambandar. Pair it with the Vaitheeswaran Koil navagraha shrine just south, the Tirukkadaiyur temple of Abhirami Andal, and the Poompuhar coastal museum on the way back.
