Nannilam
Nannilam — Kamaraj holds Cauvery delta seat for a fourth straight cycle, by 41,724 votes
AIADMK's R. Kamaraj held Nannilam by 41,724 votes over DMK's Mohamed Mubarak — the seat's largest margin in the post-delimitation era and a four-peat for Kamaraj, who has now carried Nannilam in 2011, 2016, 2021 and 2026. His margins have been on a sustained upward arc through the cycle: 10,404 (2011) → 21,276 (2016) → 4,424 (2021) → 41,724 (2026). The constituency sits in the Cauvery delta paddy belt of Thiruvarur — the home district of CM M. K. Stalin's predecessor M. Karunanidhi — making Kamaraj's continued AIADMK hold here one of the more striking pieces of personal political real estate in the delta.

R. Kamaraj's AIADMK fortress in Nannilam is now a four-peat — and the 2026 margin of 41,724 is comfortably his largest, nearly ten times his 2021 squeaker. The 2006 row is from the older pre-delimitation Nannilam seat, when CPI's P. Padmavathy carried it on the DMK alliance ticket. The 2016 runner-up Durai Velan was Congress on the DMK alliance ticket, hence the dual pill.
About Nannilam
Nannilam — AC 169 — sits in the heart of Thiruvarur district's Cauvery delta paddy belt, the rice bowl that has fed Tamil Nadu since the Chola era. Thiruvarur itself is the seat of the Thyagaraja temple — one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams' partners — and the home district of late DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi. The 2008 delimitation was relatively gentle on Nannilam, which retained much of its older boundary. R. Kamaraj of the AIADMK has been the seat's defining politician of the post-delimitation era — winning four consecutive cycles since 2011.
Nannilam & the Cauvery Delta
Nannilam is delta country — flat green paddy as far as the eye sees, fed by Cauvery distributaries that have been irrigating these fields since the Cholas. Twenty kilometres south sits Thiruvarur with its vast Thyagaraja temple tank, the birthplace of the three Carnatic Trinity composers and home district of M. Karunanidhi. Push further into the delta for Tiruvidaimarudur's Mahalingaswami shrine and Kumbakonam's pancha-temple cluster — the deep heart of Tamil rice and ritual.
