About Kulithalai
Kulithalai (AC 137) runs along the south bank of the Cauvery in eastern Karur district, a paddy-and-banana belt where the river bends past the Kadambar tributary and the Kabilarmalai hill. The town's Kadambavaneswarar temple is a Tevaram padal-petra-sthalam, sung by the Saiva Nayanmars.
Twenty km east, the Nerur samadhi of Sadasiva Brahmendra — the 18th-century Advaitin saint and composer of 'Pibare Rama Rasam' — draws Carnatic pilgrims year-round. The Mukkombu / Upper Anicut, the colonial-era weir that splits the Cauvery from the Kollidam, sits at the seat's eastern edge near Trichy. Sugarcane and turmeric on the plain, granite quarries on the Kabilarmalai slope.
