About Anaikattu
Anaikattu, also written Anaicut, is a rural-leaning seat in Vellore district that takes in Pallikonda, Odugathur and the Anaicut taluk villages along the Palar. The economy is built on paddy and sugarcane in the river belt, weaving clusters at Odugathur, and quarrying in the Javadhu foothills. The seat sends commuters into Vellore city for work and study, with its panchayats clustered around the Vellore-Krishnagiri highway. Politics here has swung between PMK, DMK and AIADMK over the last three cycles, with farm prices, river water and rural roads driving the vote.
Around Anaikattu
Odugathur's weaving streets and the Palar bathing ghats mark the riverside stretch, while a westward turn climbs into the Javadhu hills with tribal hamlets at Jamunamarathur. The Amirthi forest stream and Vellore Fort are within an hour's drive.
