Party & ideology

Nehru is the senior DMK voice in central Tamil Nadu — a Karunanidhi-era loyalist whose political identity blends Dravidian welfare-state continuity with urban-civic delivery. His Municipal Administration tenure in 2021-26 ran the Singara Chennai 2.0, Chennai Metro Rail expansion coordination with the Centre, and the Smart Cities programme across Trichy, Madurai, Salem and Coimbatore. Inside the DMK he is among the senior generation that survived the leadership transition from M. Karunanidhi to M. K. Stalin and now sits on the high-table as Principal Secretary.
