Sivakumar is part of the Anbumani Ramadoss-led PMK faction that consolidated control of the party after the 2025 family split. PMK, founded by Dr. S. Ramadoss in 1989 out of the Vanniyar Sangam's 1987 MBC reservation agitation, contests on a social-justice platform centred on Vanniyar and rural-backward-class welfare. PMK joined the AIADMK-led NDA on 7 January 2026 and was allotted 18 seats.
