Srivilliputhur 2026: TVK's Karthik wins by 8,581 with CPI in second
TVK's A. Karthik took Srivilliputhur with 65,653 votes as DMK ally CPI's P. Mahalingam finished second on 57,072. The 8,581-vote margin in a heavily-divided 15-candidate field flips a seat AIADMK had held since 2016 and underscores the Left's continuing pull in the cotton belt.

About Srivilliputhur
Srivilliputhur (AC 203) is best known for the Srivilliputhur Andal temple — its 192-foot rajagopuram is the model for the Tamil Nadu state government's emblem — and for the GI-tagged Srivilliputhur palkova. The constituency stretches from the temple town through Watrap and the Sathuragiri foothills near the Western Ghats. The seat went CPI in 2011 under V. Ponnupandi, AIADMK in 2016 and 2021 under M. Chandra Prabha and E. M. Manraj; 2026 turns it to TVK with CPI back in second.
When you are in Srivilliputhur
Begin at the Andal temple — the rajagopuram appears on the Tamil Nadu state emblem and is best photographed at first light. Pick up a tin of Srivilliputhur palkova from the old shops near the temple's east gate, then drive out to Watrap for the Sathuragiri trek, a quiet alternative to the bigger hill shrines.
